A ski holiday in Whistler, Canada is on the top of many a skier’s wish list and with its consistent snowfall, a huge array of accommodation options and a breathtakingly fresh approach to customer service, it’s not hard to see why.

A short, simple journey on the sky train brings you right into the charming and surprisingly compact centre of Vancouver. Immediately you get a feel for this city and can understand why it has repeatedly been named ‘The most liveable place on Earth’ with its combination of city skyscrapers and an intimate atmosphere you would expect from a small village rather than a coastal city.  A two night stopover at one of the beautiful hotels opposite the harbour makes the perfect addition to your ski trip to Whistler.

The transfer options from Vancouver to Whistler are plentiful and couldn’t be easier. Hire a car and go at your own pace on this breathtaking drive through the valley, or opt for a private transfer straight from your Vancouver hotel. You get a real sense of wilderness pretty much as soon as you leave the city and the views across the huge, expansive lakes are stunning. This delightful journey takes just over two hours but you could happily stay on this scenic drive for another two.

Arriving in Whistler is certainly an experience to remember due to the grand and impressive buildings that greet you on your approach. There is a wide choice of village and slope-side accommodation across the three villages but wherever you are, you will experience Whistler's renowned, friendly service. With the majority of resort facilities being managed by the base company Whistler Blackcomb, you are guaranteed a level of service that is consistent throughout, from your day on the mountain right through to your evening in resort.

The ski area is huge and split over the two mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb. With endless tree lined runs, the skiing experience is first-class and fully deserving of its incredible reputation. The lift system fast, efficient and incredibly easy to navigate, plus the addition of the Peak 2 Peak gondola ensures your day’s skiing could go on and on. Skiers of all abilities are well catered for over the two mountains, and with fantastic piste names such as Harmony Horseshoes, Dapper’s Delight and Spanky’s Ladder, you just want to keep on exploring. For skiers looking for an extreme challenge, Whistler offers accessibility to some of the best heli-skiing in the world and is something that certainly should be considered. If you’re looking for something a little tamer, the resort also features a wide programme of non-mountain sports and activities.

The vast range of dining choices in Whistler is almost too much to experience in one visit. A strong pacific influence is especially evident through the numerous sushi venues which are definitely a 'must visit' during your stay, although there are some great local restaurants offering Western cuisine. In the evening, the village retains a relaxed yet bubby atmosphere, and with plenty of live music, the evenings are certainly fun-filled if you have any energy left.

Whistler just keeps on delivering on every level and fully deserves its international reputation as a world-class resort.
