The snow is still falling
Posted: Tuesday 8th April 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
Even as we enter the last few weeks of the season, the skies continue to be full of clouds and deliver snow across the alps. As freezing levels are around most resort heights, the villages are seeing a little rain but up on the mountain its definitely snowing. The conditions for this late on are really good, usually by now the flips-flops and shorts are out ! However this year, even the statues in the centre of town are still covered. The good start to the season looks like being matched by the best end of a season for quite a few years.

The sun returns
Posted: Friday 4th April 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
Today saw stunningly beautiful sunshine all day. Even better was the fact that the snow was in amazing condition all day. The morning was spent in Courchevel and a good varied ski was enjoyed by everyone. As the sun was out, a lunch on the terrace had to be done and the deck chairs were as popular as ever! A hazy afternoon was enjoyed in the St Martin de Belleville valley. As the sunshine is set to continue combined with these great snow conditions, we really are seeing great late season skiing.

Mixed Fortunes

Today saw a very changeable day here in Meribel. The morning allowed us to take full advantage of the overnight snow. The cloud lifted during breakfast and rewarded everyone that had risen early. The morning saw beautiful sunshine and fresh snow, so Courchevel 1850 was the first destination to enjoy the long motorway runs high above the resort. The pace was quick as we crossed over the valley as we headed towards La Tania. The tree-lined runs down to village are really a must see when skiing in the Trois Vallee, these runs are enjoyed by everyone regardless of ability. Sadly the cloud and wind increased in the afternoon, so as St Martin De Belleville seemed to have escaped the fog we…

Yet more snow
Posted: Monday 31st March 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
The resort woke up to cloudy snowy skies again this morning. Despite it being nearly April we saw the type of temperatures usually experienced in January. The snow quality of the whole area was fantastic however the best skiing to be had today was Courchevel. We had the top runs from Saulire to ourselves and even managed some fresh powder runs! Not what you expect at 4.30 in the afternoon at the end of April. As the snow quality is set to remain good and the sunshine is returning tomorrow for the rest of the week, we should all be enjoying the next few days. Good conditions and good luck for eveyone racing in the Mens UK Land downhill competition tomorrow right here in Meribel.

Powder and Sunshine
Posted: Sunday 30th March 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
The last few days have seen dustings of new snow across the Trois Vallee area.So for anyone skiing the last few days a few quiet powder runs were unexpectly enjoyed, even if it meant tracking over the complete area! The sunshine today was more suited to a summer day in St Tropez, certainly there was a few people outside Cap Horn who thought they were down there. This heat did result in some heavy stuff down below in resort but the freezing tempretures and expected snow tonight will fill in the gaps for the weeks ahead. The snow depths higher up are record for this time of year and that combined with late season sunshine should finish the season off beautifully.

Powder White
Posted: Friday 21st March 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
The winter season began again today here in Meribel. We have seen between 50 to 60 cm of fresh snow fall in the last 12 hours. I cant actually believe it is the end of March and we have been skiing fresh powder all day today. Even with the dumping of snow experienced, most lifts were open and access to the Trois Vallee was still possible all day. For everyone lucky and flexible enought to be skiing tomorrow, it could prove to be one of the best days of the season. As we sit down for the evening meal tonight we are all still talking and smiling about the skiing today and I can guarantee we are not the only ones.

Easter Skiing
Posted: Thursday 20th March 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
The first day of spring began in Meribel today. However the conditions were more suited to the winter months just gone. The sun was shining, the snow consistant and firm and the tempreture well below recent days. The cold weather seemed to have deterred most people as we had empty slopes all the way down to Courchevel 1850. The snow was in wonderful condition and the pistes had been groomed to perfection over night. The quiet slopes meant a ski through Courchevel down to La Tania and back to Meribel before 11! The Val Thorens vallee was looking clear and sunny in the afternoon so we headed over for more of the same. As always Mont Vallon provided late afternoon sun to enjoy on the…

More sun and fresh snow showers
Posted: Wednesday 19th March 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
The day started with first lifts for most of the guests as the sun was shining and the snow still fresh from the previous couple of days. VT was the place to be with lots of places to make some fresh tracks off piste and on piste with good grippy snow. Everybody had a great day, complimented with tea and cakes and a dip in the jacuzzi for apres-ski to sort out the tired legs. To top it off, the chef produced a delicious hearty lamb shank dinner complete with the complimentary wine. It is enough to make anyone feel very satisfied on their short holiday break. We had 5 people arrive today, who are amazed at the conditions outside and already the great service…

Fresh snow falling
Posted: Monday 17th March 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
The snow continued to fall all evening and Meribel awoke to cloudy but snowy skies. As the freezing level was fairly high today, the snow on the higher slopes was of a better standard to ski on. The second station of the main bubbles were closed first thing this morning, however we managed to sneak up the vast network of chair lifts the area has to offer and headed over to Les Menuires. We managed to experience some breaks in the cloud and enjoy the fresh level of snow on all pistes. The mountain was quiet as the changeable conditions continued throughout the day. With the prospect of clear skies and groomed fresh snow, it is shaping up to be an epic day on the mountain tomorrow.…

Its snowing outside
Posted: Sunday 16th March 2008 by Andy, Nicola, Jo, Annie And Pete
Winter started again today here in Meribel. The higher slopes saw 20 to 30 cm of fresh snow this morning and the snow has just kept falling. At least 15 more cm is expected to fall overnight. The skiing condition on the peaks was breathtaking this morning. The steep wide bowls off the back of Courchevel provided powder and beautiful clean snow to enjoy, even if the visability was a little changeable. As the day continued, the freezing level dropped and as a result even the snow on lower slopes became a pleasure to ski. The prospect of fresh snow and clear skies has got alot of people in the resort very excited, bring on those first lifts!
