Big birthday celebrations...
Posted: Thursday 14th January 2010 by amalien
This week the Amalien Haus has been full of birthday cheer with the Thompson party, who have come to celebrate Joe’s 40th birthday, as well as a few others along the way! On the first night, champagne was had by all to celebrate Louise’s birthday, shortly followed by sticky toffee pudding loaded with candles for the lucky lady! The guests were not so lucky, however, when they were subjected to “Happy Birthday” sung by Tom & Sophie. Thankfully, everyone else soon joined in.
The next day Tom took the group to Lech for what was to be some of the best skiing so far this season. Over night a fresh blanket of snow had arrived and by 11am the clouds cleared to reveal glorious sunshine. The group sat outside in weather that felt more like summer than winter with amazing schnitzel accompanied by ice cool white wine.
Joe’s big birthday celebrations started with a drink at the bottom of the Nasserien gondola before heading up for a drink at the top with live music and Glühwein. Shortly after, the group headed to the Rodel track for frolics and laughs whilst tobogganing down some of the dozens of hairpin bends and straights before arriving at the Rodel Hut. The favourite for all was the pork knuckle; an enormous platter of roast pork loaded with crackling and accompanied by fat fluffy dumplings and flowing champagne. A final hot chocolate with baileys gave the group the nudge to finish off the last of the toboggan run before heading to Piccadilly’s to enjoy the live music until the small hours.
With more snow due for the weekend the great skiing should continue for our new guests!
