Champagne celebrations...

The pace of life here in St Anton went into overdrive as the resort filled with people from far and wide who had travelled to witness the magic that is New Years Eve in St Anton, and the Arlberg certainly didn’t disappoint. The evening’s festivities began with champagne and caviar canapés in the lounge before the Paul party, who made up over half the chalet whilst on their week break here in St Anton, got Tom involved in a few games leaving the room full of laughter with his ghastly charades impressions! After a superb 4 course meal, the group returned upstairs to watch the streets begin to fill with party goers and continue the games.

Midnight was celebrated in the street with bottles of champagne and cheering as the hour approached. To say the least, Austria offers some of the best fireworks displays and, this new years, we were never far from one! Whether it be as you quietly wander down the street and have chalet guests throw bangers at you from the balcony (as Tom was subjected to in the Amalien Haus!) or as you join a group of friends in the street and admire the bright lights and fabulous colours.

Shortly after the buzz of the streets lessened most retreated to Piccadilly or Cuba bar, not to be seen again until the small hours…

Those who made it to breakfast the next morning were pleasantly surprised – a decent snowfall overnight had left us with fantastic conditions and blue skies. An amazing day’s skiing seemed the only way to recover from the evenings celebrations. With more snow and sun on the way great skiing is set to continue in St Anton!
