Floods of sunshine to the Hospiz Alm...
Posted: Monday 25th January 2010 by amalien
The Johnston party from Belfast come away together every year as a group of friends, and this year their destination was the Amalien Haus, St. Anton. The first morning everyone was keen and eager to get up on the slopes and with a 9am start we were ensured a good amount of skiing. After splitting the group, Tom, our resident Ski Events Manager and Kev, our resident Resort Manager, showed the group around the St. Anton area. Tom took his group over to Stuben – a small village at the far end of the St. Anton region where you can enjoy a fantastic view from the top of the North Face over the Arlberg, all the better thanks to the stunning blue skies and floods of warm sunshine. Soon, the long undulating red runs twisted and turned us back down from the top of Stuben to Alpe Rautz before crossing back into St. Anton and over to St. Christoph on a easy, cruizy blue before a relaxed lunch stop at the Hospiz Alm. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome before enjoying a rack of ribs with lashings of barbeque sauce served with French fries and a glass of red wine before the inevitable smooth double espresso to kick start the skiing again.
The afternoon had a somewhat more relaxed tone to it, and the group didn’t venture far from “Happy Valley” – a gentle, long run in between the Kapal peaks before heading to the Krazy Kangaruh for an après ski session followed by a easy run back down the piste aided by Colin and his head torch! A four course dinner, plenty of chalet wine and cheese later and the group were off again to Piccadilly to enjoy the live music and great atmosphere until the early hours of the morning… needless to say the following morning everyone was not quite so eager to get the first lifts!
We hope to can come and join us soon.
