Letting off steam in the Krazy Kanguruh...

Posted: Friday 26th March 2010 by amalien

This weekend Euro MTS arrived in St Anton for their fifth time at the Amalien Haus and, Zoe Boston, the group leader was eager to make up for time lost away from the buzz of St Anton! The group was split into 3 group; a “fast and hard” group who were to devote their time to St Anton hitting the piste at “full power”; a group made up of those who were more than capable of skiing “fast and hard”, but were simply far happier with a hot chocolate half way through the morning, and a group of skiers keen to improve their technique who spent their time accompanied by Ross, a private instructor organised by flexiski. On Friday morning all three groups decided to head up the Rendlbahn gondola to enjoy the somewhat quieter and more relaxed secluded pistes in the glorious sunshine. With the ever increasing temperatures in the Arlberg, Rendl, albeit south facing, tends to suffer a little less from sun damage and as such some fantastic skiing was had by all on the newly groomed ski routes from the top of the Gampergbahn.

After a somewhat vivacious night in Piccadilly Bar enjoying Andi Joseph’s eclectic collection of sing along songs, all three groups were more than happy to take a well deserved break at the Rendl Café, nicknamed Rendl beach, thanks to the abundance of deck chairs lining the piste. From here the group happily sipped a Heise Schololade with Rum, enjoying the view 2 fold with fantastic scenery and beautiful blues skies and that of Rendl Park, renovated for the 2009/2010 season, with a wide array of jumps, rails, bumps and lumps. Although the break didn’t last as long as some would have liked (and indeed) before long we were all enjoying to 4km run back down R1 to St Anton, where the last of the decent skiing was to be had before lunch!

The group enjoyed a lazy lunch at the Hospiz Alm in St Christoph where the ladies were somewhat pleased with cushioned benches perfectly angled for sunbathing! Lunch was long lived, and there was only one thing left to do, and it is what the St Anton team remember Zoe and the whole of the MTS team for every year, and that is their endless energy at the Krazy Kanguruh! It is fair the say that I, resident Ski Event Manager from St Anton, have seen a fair number of groups letting off steam in the “KK”, but few that could create enough steam to turn the bar into a sauna! A short taxi ride back to the Amalien Haus, and all were back safe and sound, where everyone retired to bed, or to dinner followed by another infamous session in Piccadilly's.

The day was a memorable one, for both MTS and the flexiski staff. We look forward to their return in 2011 for yet another incredible trip in St Anton.
