Long lunches and sunny days skiing ‘The White Ring’…
Posted: Friday 11th March 2011 by amalien
Other than the Kay family who are staying with us for a total of ten days, Sunday was all change in the Amalien Haus as the Andrews, Capita, Deanley and Murray parties departed and we were joined by a host of new guests.
Regular visitors to St Anton, Nick Newman and colleagues came on their first Flexiski holiday this week. Heading out on the slopes with Resort Manager Kev, the boys covered much ground and enjoyed long, sunny lunches in some of the best restaurants on the piste. The group enjoyed lobster tail and tuna in Verwall Stub’n (at the top of the Galzig lift) on day one, followed by a leisurely lunch on St Anton’s ultimate suntrap, the balcony of the Hospiz Alm the following day.
Though only having learnt to ski last year when staying in the Chalet Leonardo in Meribel, Paul Sterriker and his son Josh have been on a number of Flexiski breaks since. This being their first time skiing in St Anton, the pair decided to take full advantage of the resort. Their first full day on the slopes was spent with an instructor who endeavoured to make his pupils more confident when tackling moguls. Then after spending a day going it alone, they took Mark one of our Ski Event Managers for a day skiing in Lech where they explored the wide, user friendly blue and red runs that the resort has to offer.
The Kay party - also keen to explore the Lech ski area took Ski Event Manager Rachel to do ‘The White Ring’ from Lech to Zurs and Zurs to Lech. The group had the challenge of travelling to and from Lech and completing the 23km of ground on skis in between taking six year old Amy to ski school at 9.30am and picking her up at 3pm.
Also staying with us at the Amalien Haus is the Hodgson party which comprises several couples. They have enjoyed lively evenings in the Krazy Kanguruh after spending their days whizzing round the mountain at high speed mostly on snow blades.
Although the weather is still beautifully sunny in St Anton, there are some snow showers forecast, ready to give the slopes a fresh covering for the rest of the week.
