Looking back over the St Anton season...
Posted: Monday 19th April 2010 by amalien
As the staff in the Amalien Haus are all but finished for the season, polishing the last surface and saying our goodbyes, it would seem that St Anton doesn’t want any of the staff to leave, well, Iceland doesn’t at least! It would be difficult not to mention the somewhat ill timed events of the volcano in Iceland, which has left hundreds of seasonaires and a few guests unable to leave the resort thanks to the closing of UK airspace for the past 5 days. Needless to say, the final flexiski guests were some of the few who have successfully made it back home thanks to a ferry back to the UK, just in time for the important Derby this weekend! Danny Schweiger and his group of friends have really made the most of the end of the season skiing and closing parties. They joined in with seasonaires and staff alike at every opportunity to celebrate the last few days in resort and, with their departure, we are left looking back on the season at the highlights and remembering all the amazing times shared in resort.
There are many things that spring to mind when we all look back over our season in St Anton, and yet, it is so difficult to pin down exactly what are the best moments. We will all look back fondly on Colin Johnston and his party who visited the Amalien Haus earlier this year filling the place with plentiful Irish banter and frolics - enjoying everything St Anton has to offer; dancing the night away until the early hours to Andy Joseph and his acoustic guitar in Piccadilly's; long lazy lunches with plenty of Bordeaux at the Hospiz Alm in St Christoph; enjoying the daily charades and live music that go on in the Underground; and, of course, the fantastic skiing in the Arlberg, whether it be doing long carving turns all the way down the 11km blue piste from the top of Schindler right down to Stuben, or jumping around in the steep and deep powder bowl that is Hinter Rendl. St Anton is undoubtedly one of the best resorts in the world, few others offer such an array of activities, skiing, après and a bustling nightlife. It is fair to say that all the staff here at the Amalien Haus have made the most of their time. If only it was winter all year round!
We would like to say a big thank you to all the guests who have visited us here at the Amalien Haus helping to make our time here so memorable and enjoyable.
We hope to see you back again next year!
