Team building slalom's and snow tubing!

Posted: Thursday 21st January 2010 by amalien

This weekend the Amalien Haus was overcome with team spirit as we had a new group join us for the weekend. On the first morning we organised a “Mini Olympics” for the group at the bottom of the Fangbahn lift in St Anton. A section of the piste was partitioned off for the morning for the event and it wasn’t long before it became obvious why this was necessary! The first event in the gala was a slalom race on snow foxes – a bike which has had its wheels replaced by two skis instead! Needless to say, laughter could be heard throughout St Anton as they raced down the piste trying to skirt around the slalom flags! Next was another bizarre, piste orientated, game – snow tubing! For those who are unfamiliar with this - it involves sitting in a rubber ring at the top of a piste and sliding down where, at the bottom, you will meet an array of skittles - the winner is the person who can knock over the largest number! The morning was rounded off with hot Gluhwein in the sunshine and a tug of war on the piste before retiring to the Anton Hotel Bar for a warming, and re-energising lunch.

The next day the group was split into groups and the beginners all enjoyed a mornings tuition, whilst those with a little more experience joined Tom, St Anton’s Ski Event Manager, and Kevin, St Anton’s Resort Manager, for a days ski under the clear blue skies of the Arlberg. The group started out from the top of Kapall where the views in the fair weather were absolutely breathtaking. A leisurely morning was had skiing down the cruisy blues of Kapall before heading over to the deserted pistes of Rendl, with virtually uninterrupted ski on the sunny south facing pistes. After a revitalising hot chocolate (accompanied by the inevitable Stroh Rum!) the group headed back to St Anton via the meandering tree lined red route 1, which lasts near 5 km.

The group left us yesterday whilst the skies poured with snow making for some great conditions for our new arrivals over the next few days. With even more snow due later on in the week, we hope to make new tracks in fresh snow.

We hope you come and enjoy it with us.
