A New Generation lesson on untouched powder...

Posted: Monday 25th January 2010 by Val dIsere

It’s been a busy week in Chalet Balias, with nine lively guests and beautiful weather here in Val d’Isère.

Some of our guests had an off-piste adventure lesson with New Generation on Saturday and would definitely recommend it. Their instructor, Richard, arrived at the chalet during breakfast to brief them on the safety equipment and plan their route for the day. They then made their way to catch the first lifts and find the best, untouched powder. During the lesson Richard took the guests down several off-piste areas, whilst teaching them about good off-piste practice and refining their overall ski technique.

We also had some first-time skiers in the Chalet Balias this week, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Val d’Isère has a centralised nursery slope which helps during those first tentative turns, and only a few minutes walk from Chalet Balias. Once the basics are covered there are a huge range of blue and green graded slopes, on both the Solaise and Bellevarde ski areas, allowing beginners to challenge themselves and improve their technique.

The weather forecast for the next three days is indicating light snowfall, with possible sunny spells on Tuesday and Wednesday. Early weather predictions for the rest of the week is for light snowfall, with temperatures ranging from -15 to -5 degrees with light winds. Current snow conditions are still excellent, although the lower slopes will definitely benefit from the new snowfall heading our way!

We hope you can come and enjoy it with us!
