As the season draws to a close, we reminisce about great lunches, Polo tournaments and most of all, amazing snow!

April might mean the end of the season in Courchevel but the Hotel Saint Louis was as welcoming as ever. Morning spring skiing became a pastime for many of our guests, allowing them to embrace the Courchevel approach to long terrace lunches in the beautiful sunshine.
Our Ski Event Managers have been busy escorting guests to various mountain restaurants including sushi at the Cap Horn, the south-facing Bel Air terrace and the incredibly well located restaurant at Hotel Courcheneige. Meanwhile, we have been sampling the gourmet coffee of the 5* Hotel Le K2, an, albeit expensive, experience not to be missed.
However, it wasn’t solely fun and games for everyone in Courchevel. Some of the Hotel Saint Louis staff, including Hotel Manager Daniella, Craig, Alex and Jon worked hard to receive their Three Valleys expert diplomas by successfully skiing the whole of the Three Valleys!
The end of season also meant the last ever ‘Bring Your Sisters’ performance at the Saint Louis. An emotional farewell to the boys was complimented by a special ‘Bring Your Sisters’ cocktail and a never ending flow of Mutzig. The band started low-key but a trip to the bar during the interval soon got them going and what followed was as energetic for the crowd as it was to the enigmatic drummer Stevie. Tears may have been shed but even the Hotel Saint Louis bar boys could not resist a dance to their brilliant Calvin Harris cover.
Elsewhere in resort, the closing parties were in full swing and as always the Hotel Saint Louis staff were an ever present addition. A particular highlight was the l'Aventure closing party, which was an amazing experience. Only in Courchevel are bottles of champagne poured from shoulder height because they are too large to be held in the more traditional manner.
As the last blog to emerge from the Courchevel team this season, it feels appropriate to end with some of our favourite moments from an action-packed season. The Courchevel Polo Masters tournament was really incredible and we have enjoyed many a lunch in the mountain restaurants but the true highlight of winter 2011/12 has been the snow. This year we were waist deep in powder in both December and January, whilst February's glorious sunshine only added to our enjoyment. Whether it was front flips in the powder, hitting 100 kph on the perfectly bashed piste or shredding the Grand Couloir, we have loved every minute. We can only hope that next year can match up to the 'copious neige' of this winter.
