Anticipating "The Natives Challenge Ski Race"...

Posted: Monday 25th January 2010 by leonardo

It's been another glorious few days in Méribel with bluebird conditions enjoyed by all. Unsettled weather is expected over the next coming days with patches of sunshine and some more snowfall forecast. The conditions have been perfect for the 'Snow Polo' which took place over the weekend at Altiport in Courchevel. Teams from all over the world competed in this unusual but exciting sport. The highly skilled and very fast game is played out on the snow covered pitch with plenty of champagne, foie gras and lots of supporters!

'Natives Challenge Ski Race' takes place on Wednesday. This is a fun race day for season workers and holidaymakers alike, the 'Natives Challenge' takes place on the Stade at Méribel La Chaudanne. This event gives skiers and snowboarders the chance to follow in the tracks of Olympic greats and take part in the 'Individual Giant Slalom' and 'Team Parallel Slalom' events followed by a drink and barbeque. It consists of four different categories: instructors, workers, guests and novices. Winners from each category will win some fantastic prizes awarded at Jacks Bar.

On Thursday evening, after last years hugely successful tour of the Alps, AlBenAza, the Plymouth based acoustic trio are back in the mountains! Al, Ben and Aza are three like minded individuals that play a mix of everything from mellow acoustic and floor stomping, to beat boxing, reggae and funk. Certainly an evening to look forward to!

We hope you can come and enjoy it with us!
