Endless Christmas festivities...

Posted: Thursday 24th December 2009 by leonardo

Here in Méribel we are making the most of the superb skiing conditions with 10cm of fresh powder and more forecast for the week ahead. The official opening of the Méribel-Mottaret lift system on the 19th December means we can now benefit from all the lifts and 90% of ski runs.

Yesterday our guests, the Jones, enjoyed an orientation day yesterday with our resident flexiski Ski Event Manager Rosie. The first run of the day was Biche on the Saulire side of Méribel – fresh fluffy powder and gorgeous sunshine, a perfect run to get their ski legs in shape. After a delicious lunch in Les Castors restaurant, we headed to the Tougnete side of Méribel and discovered empty slopes and undiscovered snow especially on the Blaireau (translates to Badger in English) and Faon (baby deer) pistes.

Alongside the first-rate skiing there are plenty of Christmas outings to look forward to in Méribel – the Christmas market came on Tuesaday bringing with it Vin Chaus and roasted chestnuts, a sledging evening from Mottaret to Méribel yesterday, Christmas celebrations at the Olympic Ice-rink tonight and on Christmas day there will be an evening service in both French and English held at the Notre Dame des Neiges Chapel in Mussillon. Apparently it can get quite chilly in the chapel so warm clothing and cushion are advised!

With so much going on everyone in the Chalet Leonardo is enjoying the Christmas festivities and anticipating a fun-filled New Year.
