Half term in full swing at the Chalet Leonardo...
Posted: Monday 15th February 2010 by leonardo
The Strawson family had a fantastic ski orientation day last Friday - we concentrated on the Méribel valley, their favourite pistes being the two red runs below the Mont Vallon bubble lift and the board-a-cross underneath the Plattiers lift. As it was so chilly, we stopped for lunch early at the Pizzeria du Mottaret, renowned as the best pizzas in town, before heading up the Tougnete side of the valley. Will, the youngest son, had some classic wipe outs after attempting some mammoth jumps! Luckily they were all recorded on video which we watched back that evening - absolutely hilarious!
Méribel continues to offer fantastic entertainment this week, including the “Children's Torchlight Descent” and “ESF Ski Show” on Tuesday followed by a firework display. The evening includes hot chocolate and mulled wine at the foot of the pistes in Méribel-Mottaret. The sledge run from Mottaret to Méribel down La Truite piste is also open on Tuesday – it’s great fun and free for children under 10 years sharing a sled with an adult.
Half term guests have descended upon Méribel and Chalet Leonardo is no exception. The Mee and the Kiy families arrived yesterday bringing with them eight children who have already nick named all the staff 'fexiski' 1 to 6! Rosie, Chalet Leonardo’s Ski Event Manager, and Oran have already set up a draughts competition - if Oran wins he can have vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce, but if he looses he has to eat an orange, his least favourite piece of fruit!
