Ski Event Management in Val d’Isère...
Posted: Monday 8th March 2010 by leonardo
On Wednesday evening, I, Chalet Leonardo’s resident Ski Event Manager, headed to Chalet Balias in Val d’Isère to act as the Ski Events Manager for 12 friends from Cardiff. On Thursday morning, the sun was shining on the Solaise side of the valley so we decided to explore Le Fornet with a quick coffee and hot chocolate stop at Le Signal restaurant at the top of the Le Fornet bubble. The clouds began to come in but we still decided to ski, taking the 'up and over' chair back into the Solaise valley and skiing down all the way back to Val d’Isère and straight to the Morris pub to listen to the alpine band “Mullet” play over après. After a delicious supper cooked by James, Chalet Balias’ resident Chef, we ventured to the Petit Danois followed by Dicks Tea Bar - where a good night was had by all!
The following day was spent over in the Tignes valley, exploring Val Claret and Tignes le Lac with a lunch at Le Triffolet in the sunshine. All the boys were keen to do Le Face (the infamous black piste) as the last run of the day back to Val d’Isère so - that's what we did! Classic wipeouts were had by all, but Dye won with 3 falls in the last 10 minutes! To recover, we headed to Bananas for some more après ski, where we all relaxed into the evening and reminisced on the days events.
I headed back in Méribel on Saturday morning to help guide the Kepler party with Darragh, Chalet Leonardo’s Resort Manager. Saturday's weather was perfect, excellent snow and bluebird skies, so we made it all the way to Courchevel 1650 before a 12:30pm lunch in Méribel Village at the Lodge de Village. After lunch the group was split so Darragh took the faster group to the Tougnete side of the valley, whilst I, took the rest to Altiport and Mottaret, before regrouping at the Rondpoint for après ski - what a fabulous few days!
