Skiing into the New Year...

Posted: Monday 4th January 2010 by leonardo

The last few days in the Méribel have been buzzing with a whole host of events in resort, a full chalet and New Year celebrations. The Chalet Leonardo New Year festivities got underway with Kier Royale served over delicious canapés before enjoying a delicious 4 course dinner complete with a champagne toast before pudding.

After dinner we ventured out to the Barometer Bar with the Hyde group of guests and Tim and Lynn Hill in tow. Méribel had plenty to choose from with Le Rondpoint, Jacks Bar and Le Pub all hosting New Year parties. We opted to see ‘Scar Wars’ perform at Le Pub, who didn’t disappoint with their energetic and vibrant performance. At the stroke of midnight everyone headed outside to the square to watch the fireworks display from Le Chaudanne – the grand finale was an excellent start to 2010.

Méribel continues to keep its visitors entertained with a great line-up of events. Tomorrow, the French ski schools are running a timed giant slalom race in both the Corbrey stadium in Méribel and Aigle stadium in Méribel-Mottaret. Furthermore, the Hotel Le Lac Bleu is offering a wine tasting evening whereby the local vigneron can take you through 18 varieties of superb wine.

The latest 10cm of snowfall left us with ideal conditions for the start of the new year and flying down pristine pistes under clear blue skies was the perfect way to recover from the celebrations.

The season is in full swing now and we hope to see you soon!
