Tempting bright blue skies in Val Thorens...

Posted: Monday 1st February 2010 by leonardo

The Coleman party of guests arrived at Chalet Leonardo last Thursday evening for their ski break and had a fantastic orientation day skiing with Darragh, Méribel’s resident Resort Manager, and Rosie, Méribel’s resident Ski Event Manager, the following day. The group consisted of 14 men who skied at the speed of light so we covered a vast amount of the Three Valleys within the first hour! Despite the flat light, the snow conditions were amazing especially on the Combe de Vallon piste below the Mont Vallon bubble lift and the black run Suisses (in fact so good, we just had to do it twice!). We squeezed in a delicious lunch in the Bel Air restaurant in Courchevel 1650 before exploring further the Saulire side of the Méribel Valley and finally finishing for an après drink in Barometer in town. Everyone's legs ached by the end of the day so all enjoyed a good soak in a hot tub!

We awoke the next day to 8 inches of fresh powder so took the Charlton guests and Erica on their orientation day. The bright blue sky tempted us to Val Thorens, where it was perishing cold -28 degrees at the top of the Cime de Caron cable car! It was like skiing in a big fluffy marshmallow as not many of the pistes had been bashed, but because of the cold weather we had to stop for plenty of chocolat chaud! We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the Chalet de Caron at the base of the Caron bubble lift before making last lifts back to Méribel in time to watch the Arsenal footie game in Jacks Bar- what an incredible day!

We hope you can come and enjoy the fantastic skiing conditions and buzzing après ski!
