Val Thorens the best place to be...
Posted: Thursday 17th December 2009 by leonardo
The skiing in Val Thorens is currently the best in the 3 valleys. Whilst some areas remain a little short on snow Val Thorens is covered in a good base and it is a pleasure to get up there and sample it!
The rule at the moment across Europe is to go high to get the best snow, and as Val Thorens enjoys the status of ‘highest ski resort in Europe’ - there is nowhere better to go at if you want to guarantee yourself some great skiing. The runs off the top of the Funitel Peclet gondola are in particularly good condition and were surprisingly empty – a great reason by itself to book an early ski trip! Not all the runs are open in Val Thorens but a high pressure weather system is moving in and the weather forecasts are unanimous in their predictions for heavy snowfall this weekend. So, to benefit from the superb snowfall the 4* Hotel Fitz Roy is the perfect location for door step skiing in the three valleys.
The resort itself is lively, as all of the bars and restaurants are now open. Dicks Tea Bar is certainly the place to end the night and after it’s refurbishment last winter it looks absolutely fantastic!
