Australia day festivities...

Posted: Monday 1st February 2010 by Val dIsere

Over the past 24 hours Val d’Isère has had over 20cm of snowfall, with more still to come! Temperatures are plummeting throughout today from -9 degrees this morning to -19 degrees this evening on the snow front, and increasing wind speeds of up to 80km/h at 3000m. The weather forecast for the rest of the week is continued snowfall, with the occasional burst of sun through the cloud line.

Val Village is bustling with visitors this weekend, here to enjoy the lively après ski bars & cosy alpine restaurants. James, Chalet Balias’ Resident Chef, and Georgie, Chalet Balias’ Head Chalet Host, went to join in the Australia day festivities at the trendy V-Spot snowboarder bar on Tuesday afternoon. V-Spot offers superb alternative entertainment through-out the week, comfy sofa’s to lounge in, a continuous flow of skiing/snowboarding films (to watch for inspiration) and friendly staff and locals to meet.

James has been continuing to keep the guests well fed throughout the week with delicious cakes, biscuits and 4-course evening meals. While Georgie has been keeping the chalet atmosphere lively and warm; with a well stoked fire and champagne flowing throughout the evening. Chalet Balias is preparing for a busy weekend of guests, here to enjoy a long weekend in the snow and enjoy the fabulous Val d’Isère atmosphere.

We hope you can come and enjoy it with us.
