A Val d'Isère New Years Eve...

Posted: Monday 4th January 2010 by Val dIsere

It’s been a stormy week here in Val d'Isère with yet more snowfall to come! Temperatures have been slowly dropping throughout the week, with a minimum temperature of -17 degrees. The wind is blowing directly down from the North pole, meaning you are going to need to pack some extra layers if you are coming to join us next few weeks!

Val d'Isère village has been a hive of activity, despite the cold weather, with some fantastic street entertainment throughout the week. The guests enjoyed some typical savoyarde delicacies, such as raclette and peirre chaud cooked over the stunning open fire place at the Clochtons restaurant up on the slopes. However, the highlight, of course, was New Years Eve with a breath-taking fireworks display, candle- lit lanterns and champagne toasts. The Chalet Balias guests saw in the New Year at the Moris Pub with complimentary drinks and entertainment from the resident Val d'Isère band 'Mullit', whereas the Balias staff celebrated at the local Jazz bar 'Blue Note' till the early hours. Needless to say, breakfast on New Years day was a very quiet affair!

Val d'Isère celebrated the 1st evening of 2010 in style, with a fantastic torch lit descent and another fabulous fireworks display, which we all watched from the balcony of Chalet Balias with a glass of bubbly in hand.

Happy New Year from all of the Chalet Balias Team, we hope to see you soon.
