Perfect piste conditions...
Posted: Wednesday 24th March 2010 by Val dIsere
Val d’Isère has captured the sun this week, with beautiful blue skies from dawn till dusk. Temperatures have soared to 9 degrees at 2000m, with a light breeze blowing from the SW to cool the brow. Early weather predictions are uncertain, with snow forecast over the weekend despite the soaring temperatures.
Chalet Balias has been filled with excitement and laughter this week, as the Davies ladies enjoyed a short ski break. Rosie, Méribel’s Ski Event Manager, joined the ladies to show them the best that Val d’Isère has to offer on and off the slopes. They enjoyed skiing on the relaxing green and blue runs that can be found in the Solaise ski area during the day, après’ drinks in the lively Banana’s, which is less than 5 minutes walk from the chalet, and a delicious 4-course meal to come home to at the end of each day.
The first signs of spring snow have appeared in Val d’Isère, on the lower runs into La Dialle. Regardless of the temperatures, piste conditions on the top of the Bellevarde, Solaise, La Fornet and Tignes still remain in excellent condition. James and I, Chalet Balias’ staff, have been investigating the best places for their guests to ski. La Fonet Glacier has been a firm favourite this week with wonderfully quiet pistes, excellent conditions and the best views of the Vanoise National Park and the Espace Killy range. As the temperatures rise further James and I suggest paying a visit to Tignes Le Brevieres, which cuts this beautiful hamlet of Tignes off from the rest of the Espace Killy.
A great time has been had by all and James, Rosie and I have really enjoyed the happy and warm atmosphere that the Davies ladies brought to the chalet over the past few days!
