The sun sets over Val d’Isère...

As we leave Chalet Balias, the sun still remains to shine over Val d’Isère with clear blue skies and a fresh dusting of snow. Last night we saw flurries of snow as the sun set over the ‘Le Face’ and the last of the parapets have descended from the sky. High clouds grace the skies this morning but Val d’Isère still looks as beautiful as it ever has done.

We have had a fantastic season in Chalet Balias, the intimate and warm atmosphere has never failed to impress the guests. There have been some fantastic dinner parties in Chalet Balias, the highlight of which has to have been the fondue extravaganza as our last night’s meal - where everyone indulged (a little too much!) in the delicious cheese! James, Chalet Balias’ Chef, has always strived to bring delicious and interesting food to the dinner table over the season, using fresh and local ingredients, which all of our guests have thoroughly enjoyed. I, Chalet Balias’ Host, have enjoyed making the guests feel at home in the chalet and helping them make the most of everything Val d’Isère has to offer.

We have had some fantastic experiences over the season; our most memorable experience is thanks to Matty from Igloo who offered to treat us to lunch in his amazing igloo. It was a once in a life time experience, to burn down the snow tracks on skidoo’s, be treated to champagne and genepi around the fire and consume the largest fondue that we have ever seen!

Unlike most resorts, Val d’Isère village is still bustling but as the end of season parties commence, with Dick’s Tea Bar hosting a black tie affair this week, we know it won’t be long until summer descends…
