Unwinding in the Aigles de Neige cocktail bar...
Posted: Monday 29th March 2010 by Val dIsere
After a warm and snowy week here in Val d’Isère, the Chalet Balias team thought the snow wasn’t going to last. But, everyone was proved wrong this morning as a blizzard swiftly moved in after breakfast, laying down 15cms of fresh snow. As snowflakes the size of 50 pence pieces began to fall, Val d’Isère village was quickly swept into a flurry of white snow, causing traffic to come to a stand still and leaving only the brave to venture outside! Early weather predictions for the weekend are light cloud in the morning followed by more consistent snow for most of Saturday evening. The winds are beginning to pick up, with gusts of up to 50km/h blowing this lunch time and set to continue with the next snowfall.
This week the ‘Le Face’ snow front found it self being overtaken by ‘The White Battle’ contest, hosted by the Folie Douce and Doudoune clubs. Amazing freestyle skiing and snowboard demonstrations took place over the first half of the evening, moving on to an aggressive competition between the competitors. Kelly Starlight, local celebrity and socialite, entertained the crowd with well known Folie Douce hits and had the crowd cheering and dancing till the early hours.
Chalet Balias has had a fantastic week of guests, the dinner conversation has been riveting as each guest tells of the days events and the champagne freely flows. Chalet Balias’ guests are from a variety of creative industries, from creative media to fashion, and their absolute favourite place to lounge after hours has been the Aigles de Neige cocktail bar- with its sculptural surroundings and relaxing vibe it is a fantastic place to wind down and continue the dinner conversation.
With more snow on the way we’re looking forward to another great week ahead!
