Val d’Isère street entertainment and live music!

Val d’Isère has become engulfed in snow during the past 72 hours. We have had over 25cm of snow intermittently falling through Tuesday and Thursday and full white out conditions overnight into Friday. The wind has considerably picked up this morning, up to 80km/h at the top of the mountains. The snow is currently swirling around Chalet Balias and is yet to show signs of letting up!

Val d’Isère village is still buzzing with regular ski displays in the evening and plenty of entertainment in the centre of town for all to enjoy. Last night was ‘Nuit Rouge’, where the town centre is closed off for pedestrians to enjoy artistic street entertainment, live music from local bands and watch the ice sculpture at work. The “V Spot” bar hosted the “Bin bag ball” on Wednesday, inviting everyone to show off their couture skills and prizes for the best dressed. Needless to say there were some impressive and unusual creations to be seen around town!

Our new guests, the Redfern party, have been making the most of their time in Val d’Isère whilst taking a well earned break from their busy IT jobs. During the day they have been benefiting from private tuition from BASS, making good progress with their ski and snowboard techniques. Enjoying relaxed lunches up the mountain together, before moving onto leisurely ski areas and après ski at the “Moris” pub. The “Moris” pub offers live music throughout the evening, excellent English sports coverage and a long happy hour! James and I, Chalet Balias’ resident Chef and Hostess, are currently planning an evening of Audi Ice driving for the guests to enjoy on their last evening together. An excellent experience for anyone who wants to drive the highest spec Audi’s at hair-raising speed in the snow!
