the resort
This chalet-style village enjoys awe-inspiring views and an impressive location across a sunny south-facing bowl. Verbier is an international favourite thanks to its combination of challenging skiing and extensive off-piste, combined with exciting apres and Swiss glamour.
Although ski holidays in Verbier are especially popular with advanced skiers and extreme snowboarders, its close proximity to Geneva also makes it a great option for that extra special ski weekend. This fashionable resort boasts a cosmopolitan atmosphere with plenty of high-end boutiques and a good choice of cafes and restaurants.
skiing in Verbier
A wonderful resort for experts, Verbier is renowned for its challenging slopes and is home to some of the most extensive and varied off-piste itineraries in the world, many of which require a guide. There is an adequate selection of blacks although more often than not, the red runs here are enough to satisfy any advanced skier. The ski area is also infamous for the thrilling mogul fields of Tortin.
However beginners and intermediates should not be put off by Verbier’s reputation as an expert's resort. There are good, sunny nursery slopes and intermediates will especially enjoy the gentle, long slopes in the quieter Savoleyres area just north-west of the village.
Verbier forms part of the 4 Valleys ski area with access to 410km of well-groomed pistes which extend across the neighbouring resorts of Siviez, Nendaz and Veysonnaz-Thyon.
apres-ski
This resort offers some of the best apres-ski in the Swiss Alps. There are a number of popular spots on the mountain and back in resort, the village comes alive after dark with plenty of bars, pubs, discos and clubs for late night partying. A wide range of restaurants ensure that there is something to suit all tastes from Michelin starred establishments and traditional Swiss dining to gastro pubs and reasonably priced pizzerias.
