the resort
Situated at 2926m, Breckenridge is one of the highest resorts in Colorado with the summit reaching a breathtaking 3960m. Much of the resort still resembles the attractive mining town it once was and authentic buildings dating back 100 years now house Main Street’s shops, restaurants and lively bars.
The snow sure slopes, forested runs and stunning views make ski holidays in Breckenridge popular with skiers of all abilities. It is also one of the nearest main ski resorts to Denver so enjoys a relatively short transfer time.
skiing in Breckenridge
The ski area in Breckenridge is spread over four main mountains called Peaks 7, 8, 9 and 10, and the resort’s impressive altitude ensures a phenomenal natural snow record.
Over half the resort is dedicated to the more advanced skier with 55% of runs classified as black. These pistes range from short and steep to extreme double diamond, although there are some easier black runs that intermediate skiers can enjoy.
Even though the resort focuses on the more advanced, there is a good choice of nursery slopes and gentle green runs for beginners especially around the bases of Peaks 8 and 9.
For those hiring a car, other resorts such as Vail, Beavercreek and Keystone are within easy driving distance and are covered on the area lift pass.
apres-ski
The dynamic apres scene offers great value options as well as exclusive restaurants. There is a distinct western charm, especially around Main Street, and the local vibe generates a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Venues such as Coppertop, offer live entertainment straight off the slopes whilst downtown there is a thriving apres scene until late.
The resort also has over 100 restaurant possibilities including Breckenridge Brewery, which offers excellent pub fare or the award winning Hearthstone Restaurant.
