5 Reasons To Fall In Love With Cervinia

We didn't need much persuading to add Cervinia in Italy to our programme. What’s not to like about skiing under the beautifully imposing Matterhorn (or Monte Cervino in Italian)? It also offers access to 360km of piste and we think the more skiing we can get into one holiday, the better!

We’re excited about how popular the resort is already proving to be so we thought we’d share with you why so many people want to go there…

Short breaks and ski weekends
Short breaks and ski weekends are a speciality of ours and Cervinia fits the bill perfectly. A short flight and a quick 1 hour 30 minute transfer from Turin airport minimises travelling and as all of our featured hotels are within a five minute walk of the ski lifts, you’ll be out on the mountain in no time.

It’s high
The village sits at 2050m and the ski area goes up to over 3400m making it a snow-sure resort. Because of the altitude it also means the season is a long one, often opening at the end of November and closing in May.

Skiing for all
Skiing in Cervinia is ideal for beginners and intermediates with lots of blues and gentle reds. You could spend days and days happily cruising the slopes. There are a few steep runs for experts and it’s a good place to get your ski legs back but we’d recommend popping over to Zermatt on the International lift pass for something more challenging.

Good value
Ski holidays in Cervinia are good value; hotels are generally inexpensive, prices in resort are cheap compared to the rest of the Alps and if you ski over the border, you get a taste of the wonderful Swiss resort of Zermatt, without the Swiss price tag.

Excellent choice of après ski
Most of the bars are located around the main street in Cervinia, which has a cute Aostan village feel, giving the resort a friendly Italian vibe, but there are also some good places tucked away down the side streets too. There are cheap, cheerful and energetic places like the Ymeletrobe and Copa Pan or you can opt for a more sophisticated ambience in the Granbecca. Whatever you want, you’ll find something to suit you.

After all those reasons to go to Cervinia, how could we resist the temptation of such a fantastic resort?
