Just off the bottom of the slope down from Hochgurgl, you can ski back to the 3* Burghotel Alpengluhn when the snow is good and the Hochgurglbahn (gondola) is 250 metres down the road, a three minute walk. The hotel itself is on the road to Obergurgl just out of town. Location wise it is quiet at night but if you feel like venturing into town the bus stop is also by the gondola.
A traditional hotel in many respects and a welcomed respite from many of the large 5* hotels in Obergurgl. The Burghotel Alpengluhen is a fantastic option for an incredibly comfortable and friendly stay with a cosy Tyrolean Stube in the restaurant; serving up deliciously hearty meals each evening. The spa area has a sauna and steam room to chill out in after skiing and there's also a sun terrace, bar and lounge with an open fireplace for a couple of cheeky drinks or a few post-dinner card games. There are even cakes waiting for you each afternoon, straight after skiing. What's not to love?
What we like
- Ski back to the hotel (when the snow is good which is most of the time)
- Quiet location and great value for money
- Small hotel with a family run, friendly feel to it - a very relaxing place
- Although on the slopes the hotel is out of town, you can catch the bus to Obergurgl
- The hotel is traditional but with plenty of modern touches, we love the decor - pale wood and stone dominant
