Overview of Explorer Hotel
The Explorer Hotel Kitzbuhel is actually in St Johann, to the south side of the town on the road to Kitzbuhel. It's a great location within an easy 10 minute walk to the town centre and right next to the ski slopes, less than a minutes walk. Being on the road out of town also gives it a prime location to get to Kitzbuhel for a day or two as well, whether you have your own hire car or take a 10 minute taxi you'll still be able to easily catch first lifts in two resorts being based in this hotel.
Aimed at the active, the Explorer Hotel is certainly functional. Each of the 99 rooms are the same size and layout. Plenty of storage space, small balcony and decent bathrooms, they're everything you need for a ski break. The communal area is one big open plan space that incorporates the lobby, ski lockers and work benches, bar, seating area and breakfast room all spilling out onto the huge terrace out front. There's also a couple of interactive boards in this area where you can find information on the local area, activities and check out the weather forecasts. Perfect to check out the snow conditions for the next few days over breakfast or send your snaps to #ExplorerMoments and you may see them up on the screens.
Although there is no restaurant on site there is a bar and it's reasonably priced for a couple of drinks before heading out to eat in the town. Downstairs there is a sauna, steam room and relaxation area, it's a great space to chill out after a day on the slopes, there's even a gym if you feel the need to really punish yourself.
