Whistler Ski Breaks Overview
With magnificent scenery, vast slopes and huge snowfalls, it's no surprise Whistler gets voted the number one overall ski resort in North America time and time again. The average yearly snowfall is 11.7 metres, that’s 130 stacked up mugs of tea, 6.7 times the height of the average UK male or 2.7 double-decker buses. It’s a ridiculous amount of snow.
The two impressive mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb have been brought together to create the largest ski area on the continent of North America, with over 8000 acres to explore. The Peak 2 Peak gondola takes just 11 minutes to link the two mountains, offering some stunning views in the process.
The resort itself is split over three distinct areas; Whistler Village, Blackcomb and Creekside, each combining state-of-the-art amenities and wonderful village charm.
Most flexiski customers choose a ski holiday package over 7, 10 or 14 days that includes accommodation and transfers. We can also help with lift passes, ski lessons, ski hire and those all important extras such as a Fresh Tracks pass, allowing you to have breakfast at the top of the mountain, watch the sunrise, then be the first onto the slopes to ski / board the freshest lines back down to the centre.
Skiing in Whistler
Ski holidays in Whistler are ideal for all levels of skiers and boarders. Beginners can enjoy the gentle green runs that trail down from the top of the mountain or dedicated ‘Slow Zones’ marked around the resort.
Venture further afield and intermediate skiers will find extensive terrain with tree-lined runs, rolling cruisers and glacial skiing - the Blackcomb Glacier is highly recommended. In fact, half the resort is intermediate heaven so there’s plenty to choose from. Expert skiers will be impressed by the vast playground of endless bowls, steep chutes and winding gullies with additional challenges including cat-skiing or heli-skiing.
Après ski
The wonderful thing about Whistler is that you’ll be able to find something to suit you, both on and off the slopes. Families, friends, couples and groups: everyone is welcome here.
There are over 90 restaurants throughout the resort offering a variety of local and international cuisine. Culinary delights include the Teppan Village where food is theatrically prepared at your table, and the Bearfoot Bistro, which is a favourite amongst flexiski staff.
Whistler’s vibrant nightlife starts on the slopes. At the base of the Blackcomb Mountain, Merlins is known for its legendary après scene, whilst the Garibaldi Lift Co. in Whistler Village has some great mountain views from its sunny patio (unfortunately nothing to do with the delicious currant-studded biscuits). The range of live music and DJ’s extends throughout the resort's many bars, the Dubh Linn Gate pub has some good happy hours and decent bands, but you will also find plenty of places to relax by a cosy fire.
