Right in the heart of Alpe d'Huez, the Royal Ours Blanc is just 300 metres from the yogurt pot lift to take you to the slopes, in and amongst the main bars and restaurants of the town. The overriding impression of the hotel would have to be that of a honeycomb. Once you see it we think you'll understand, the whole hotel plays on naturally occurring geometry within it's contemporary and cosy decor. The abundance of south facing, balconied rooms takes full advantage of the resorts fantastic sunshine and mountain views.
The spa area is a real treat with an indoor pool with a sort of cave-y feel (don't worry it's plenty big enough for a few lengths), there's also a jacuzzi and sauna to relax in or messages are on offer if you've had a particularly rigorous day on the slopes. Something else that gets rave reviews is the food, whether its the Pierrade machines on the table or the fairly monstrous desert choice, dinner always seems to be a treat.
What we like
- Central location within easy walking distance of the pedestrian lift to the slopes
- Plenty of south-facing rooms with balconies
- Great spa area with indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi
- There's plenty of bee references throughout the hotel (just in case you have a phobia)
- There is an unsupervised children's corner
- There is car parking for a supplement
