Val d'Isere Ski Holidays

Val d'Isere in France is one of the most sought after ski resorts in the world due to its vast terrain, endless off-piste opportunities and exciting après-ski. Being part of the Tignes/Val d'Isere ski area means there is plenty of skiing to suit all abilities and the resort’s high altitude at 1,850 meters ensures an enviable snow record all season. A peak of 3,455 metres in the Espace Killy means snow sure slopes all season long.

The attractive pedestrianised centre boasts a charming village ambience and is home to a superb range of accommodation and restaurants, perfect for those looking for a short ski break or long weekend. You'll find Savoyard classics, chic bistros and humble pubs right up to Michelin Star restaurants. This all comes with a price tag but the fact that it’s popular year and year again speaks volumes for some of the best skiing in the Alps.

It may be a longer transfer, so depending on your flight time you probably won',t be able to ski on the transfer days however if you don't mind that then it is 100% worth the extra travel time because it is one of our favourite ski areas in the Alps. Oh, and the constantly updated fast lift system means you won’t be wasting time getting up the pistes.

Skiing in Val d'Isere

Skiing in Val d’Isere is divided across three main mountains. Bellevarde and Solaise can be accessed directly by lifts from the resort centre, whilst the third mountain Col de L’Iseren is connected from Solaise. Skiing back into resort can be challenging but the efficient shuttle bus service takes you easily back from the lifts to your accommodation.

Val d’Isere is known for being an excellent resort for experts due to the extent of lift-served off-piste itineraries. There are also some wonderfully challenging black runs including 'le Face' the Olympic downhill piste, guaranteed to thrill even the most experienced skier. However, this shouldn’t deter beginner and intermediates, the terrain is so vast there is plenty for all abilities. Beginners have a good mix of wide greens whilst mile hungry intermediates are spoilt for choice with plenty of long cruising blue and red runs.

If that wasn’t enough, with Val d’Isere linked with Tignes, there are 300km of pistes to explore on your doorstep. The excellent lift system provides easy access to the neighbouring resort and its glacier skiing.

Val d'Isere's après ski

Après ski in Val d’Isere is exciting and energetic both on and off the mountain. The party starts on the slopes in the afternoon at the world-famous Folie Douce. Back in resort, the atmospheric village centre comes alive at night. Food lovers will find a good choice of restaurants serving everything from gastronomic dishes to regional delights, and there are plenty of après ski bars offering live music, happy hours and dancing into the early hours.
