What's On In Aspen - Winter 2017/18
A quick run down of some of the events held in Aspen Snowmass for the upcoming winter season (2017/2018). They're either free or tickets are still available so speak to our ski team on 0208 939 0862 if you want to get yourself out there for a couple of days of high altitude ski and snowboard celebration.
The Meeting Filmfest
To kick off the winter season, there's a weekend of the best ski and snowboard films of the year and plenty of live music. Movie premieres at the Sundeck, Belly up Aspen and of course the Wheeler Opera House.
Now in it's 13th season the Filmfest is heading back to Aspen with hilarious and action packed 'Drop Everything' to the perfect worlds of 'Arcadia' through to the challenging landscapes of 'Numinous'.
Friday 15 Dec
Snowmass ski area's 50th anniversary.
They're throwing it way back, jumping in the DeLorean and heading for the days of $6.50 lift tickets, all the way back to 1967 in fact and the opening day of the mountain. The retro beats will be pumped out at Elk Camp before the fireworks rise over Fanny Hill.
Events will continue over the weekend but the 1967 day lift pass is for one day only.
Toyota US Grand Prix
Nothing to do with the F1, U.S. snowboard and freeski athletes compete to bag their spot in the Olympic Winter Games. Up on Snowmass, 5 qualification events will be held on their park and pipe set up. It's safe to say they'll be shredding more style than Audrey Hepburn delivering uncle sally's weather reports.
Aspen Gay Ski Week
Already widely regarded as the top ski destination for the LGBTQ community, Aspen hosts the annual fervor of Gay Ski Week. Impressive terrain, top quality restaurants and buzzing apres ski combine to celebrate this lifestyle ski event.
Think comedy, parties, fab food and top hotels with a healthy dose of mountain riding.
X Games Aspen
A date for the diary of any winter sports enthusiast. The X Games Aspen is a rip roaring festival of the best talent in the ski and snowboard worlds mashed together with acclaimed music artists and bands. To top it off all competitions are completely free. You'll have to bag yourself a couple of tickets for the concerts though.
If you get to catch some Danny Davis, you'll be witnessing the frendly monster having heaps of fun on the snow.
Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open by Perky Jerky
One of the last independent events left in the country, it's open to amateur and professional athletes alike to compete on the X Games Slopestyle, Superpipe and Big Air courses. Take a look at the entry requirements if you fancy putting yourself forward and perhaps climb up the world rankings. Fancy taking your shot at the title? See here for details.
