Verbier Ski Breaks - Overview

A chalet-style village boasting awe-inspiring views and an impressive location across a sunny south-facing bowl, Verbier has managed to steal the hearts of millions of skiers, including ours, over the years. Verbier is an international favourite destination for short ski breaks, long weekends and in fact full on seasons thanks to its combination of challenging skiing and extensive off-piste terrain, paired with an exciting après scene and an unmistakable Swiss glamour.

Although ski holidays in Verbier are especially popular with advanced skiers and extreme snowboarders, its close proximity to Geneva also makes it a standout option for an extra special ski weekend. This fashionable resort exudes a cosmopolitan atmosphere with an abundance of high-end boutiques and an expansive choice of cafes, restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.

Skiing in the resort

We recommend Verbier for intermediate to advanced skiers, as it's renowned for its challenging slopes and is home to some of the most extensive and varied off-piste itineraries in the world, many of which require a guide. Whilst there's an adequate selection of black runs, the red runs here are often enough to satisfy any advanced skier. The ski area is also infamous for the thrilling mogul fields of Tortin...just let your quads rest at the bottom.

Whilst Verbier certainly has a reputation as an advanced skiers paradise, beginners and intermediates, or those travelling with a mixed ability group should not be put off. There are some great, sunny nursery slopes, as well as gentle, long runs in the Savoleyres area just north-west of the village, perfect for intermediates.

Verbier forms part of the 4 Valleys ski area with access to 412km of well-groomed pistes which extend across the neighbouring resorts of Siviez, Nendaz and Veysonnaz-Thyon, providing plenty of space to explore no matter how long your ski trip.

Après ski in Verbier

Consistently voted one of the best resorts for après-ski in Europe, Verbier attracts flocks of thrill-seekers and party-goers each season. With a number of popular spots on the mountain and back in resort, the village really comes alive after dark with countless bars, pubs, discos and clubs to satisfy any type of après lover – from a relaxed beer after the day’s skiing to dancing the night away until dawn. Try the Pub Mont Fort and the Farinet as your first ports of call. Dining in Verbier is also a delight, with a range of restaurants and cuisines, from Michelin-starred establishments and traditional Swiss fare to gastro pubs and reasonably priced pizzerias
