You don’t get much more luxurious than The Chedi Andermatt. Known as one of the most impressive ski hotels in the world, this 5* gem is set within the very centre of Andermatt, right opposite the Andermatt train station. Finish your day on the slopes with a ride on the Après Ski Zug, Andermatt’s infamous après train, and cross the road to re-enter The Chedi. You’ll certainly be glad to be home when you’re staying here.

The hotel's impressive interiors, designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy, are an intriguing mix of alpine warmth and Asian flair. Granite flooring, dark wood furnishings and atmospheric lighting combine to create a hotel that is undeniably luxurious. While not situated directly on the slopes, the Chedi’s complimentary chauffeured ski bus will deliver you to the Gemsstock gondola (and pick you up at the end of the day) within a four minute drive.

During your stay here, you’ll be able to make the most of their breathtaking spa facilities - and sleep soundly in the knowledge that guest passes go for over £150 - available to all guests of The Chedi at no additional cost. The Chedi also features a Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant, named simply ‘The Japanese Restaurant’, which is well worth a visit. Feast on a modern five to ten-course Kaiseki menu or opt for more casual dining at their sushi bar - serving up the very best sushi and sashimi in Switzerland.

What we like

- Exceptional design hotel with stunning communal spaces, including three restaurants, a cigar library, a wine library, and a bar and lounge
- Stunning day spa featuring a 35-metre indoor pool, plush daybeds, alpine relaxation room with log fire, salon, and health centre
- Central location and chauffeur bus service to the slopes
- Large, luxurious bedrooms with lounge areas, fireplaces, and en suite bathrooms as standard

Worth knowing

- The outdoor pool area is not heated and therefore is not available for use in the winter
- Valet parking is available on request
- The chauffeured ski bus service is available on demand, but it is only a short journey (6 minutes walk to the Gutsch Express) if you don’t want to get a lift to the Gemsstock gondola
