Located in the heart of Engelberg right next to the station it couldn’t be easier to hop off the train and into your room. The ski bus stops right outside making getting to the slopes a doddle as well. The Bellevue terminus is Engelberg’s contemporary fusion hotel - it sounds like a mouthful but basically means it's a little quirky and fairly stylish #breakingdownthejargon. The south wing was completely revamped in 2011 with special attention paid to acoustics (including muffling the sound of ski boots). The North wing was renovated over the summer of 2017 to match the modern styles of the South wing.
The Buena Vista is the hotels café lounge bar with some fabulous views of the mountains. You can grab a quiet drink next to the open fire or slip into a book in this very relaxed and gentle space.
A lively contrast can be found at the Yucatan supper club with an emphasis on informal dining creating a pop-up restaurant vibe, no neat-and-nice silver service to be found here, just delicious contemporary food and friendly waiters. You may even stumble across one of their music-food events to really get your night buzzing.
What we like about the Bellevue Terminus
- Central location, next to the train station and close to the best of Engelberg
- A focus on food and music - a great place for informal dining and a few drinks
- Modern style inside a beautiful Belle Epoque building
- Engelberg wasn't a town built for skiing so getting to the slopes is easiest if you catch the regular shuttle bus
- There's definitely a modern and quirky feel to the place - check out their Instagram if you're unsure
- Although there's a lively bar in the hotel the soundproofing means you'll still get a great nights sleep
