Resort overview

With a stunning valley location in the Arlberg region of Austria, the picture postcard village of Lech is home to a range of upmarket hotels built in a traditional chalet style, plus excellent on and off-piste skiing.

Lech’s beautiful sunny setting, wonderful snow record and excellent customer service continue to attract repeat visitors year after year, so it’s always worth booking a ski holiday in Lech well in advance to secure your ideal accommodation.

Peacefully located above the main village is the car-free hamlet of Oberlech. Accessible only by cable car, Oberlech has a magical ambience, with ski in, ski out hotels nestled amongst the pine trees. There are plenty of picturesque lunch spots up here, providing wonderful views to soak in over a gluhwein between runs!

Skiing in the resort

Offering excellent on and off-piste skiing, Lech is renowned for its wide and well-groomed slopes. Intermediate skiers are particularly well catered for and will find some lovely cruising terrain on the main blues and reds above Oberlech. One of the most popular advanced routes is the White Ring; a famous 22km Lech-Zurs-Lech circuit, and the setting for an annual ski race of the same name.

In Lech itself, there is one black run but the main attraction for experts is the great challenging open powder terrain. You'll be able to enjoy the marked off piste runs on your own whilst the tougher ‘touring runs’ require a guide.

Lech also forms (arguably the best) part of the Arlberg ski area so extends to include neighbouring St Anton, St Christoph, Zurs and Stuben. The 340km of piste is best suited to intermediates and advanced skiers, yet around Lech, you'll find plenty of terrain for learning or looking to progress your skills. It's one of the more diverse areas in the region.

Après ski

Lech offers a variety of low-key apres options such as soaking up the afternoon sun on the cafe terraces or listening to live music at one of the hotel ‘Eisbars'. The wonderful selection of spa facilities and over 50 restaurants ensure there are plenty of choices for unwinding after a day on the slopes. Lech is much more relaxed than its neighbour St Anton, but there are two nightclubs and a few bars that are open until late for those looking for something a bit livelier.
