In an understated corner of Courmayeur, The Gran Baita disregards the razzle-dazzle, it's authentically elegant in its simplicity. A petite and intimate place where the hosts are great and a cup of coffee is something to remember. Even the sauna has panoramic views and the pool extends out into the snow giving you 31 degrees of steaming water under snowy skies and swirling winds, I can't think of too many more appealing notions. Maybe the outdoor hot tub is more your cup of tea.

The restaurant is a taste bud tickler of local and national dishes and the American bar has a stately home-esque spot next to the fire, perfect for swapping tall tails of top ski speeds, crashes and quips of the day. If you're looking to go further afield for your evenings the town centre is a 10 minute walk and the complimentary ski shuttle will get you to the lifts each day.

What we like about Hotel Gran Baita Courmayeur
